Ground Chicken Tacos Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas, or taco shells
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Chicken
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the chopped onions to the skillet and sauté until they are translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
    • Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
    • Cook the chicken until it is no longer pink inside, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Season the Chicken
    • Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked chicken.
    • Stir well to coat the chicken evenly with the seasoning.
    • Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Assemble the Tacos
    • Warm the tortillas in a microwave or on a hot skillet for a few seconds on each side.
    • Place a spoonful of the seasoned ground chicken onto the center of each tortilla or taco shell.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, diced avocado, shredded cheese, and a spoonful of salsa.
    • If desired, add a dollop of sour cream on each taco.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro.
  4. Serve
    • Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
